How to reset apple watch?

As mentioned earlier, Apple has a wide line of watches. It was released in 2015 and it took no time to become one of the best-selling smartwatches and has attracted millions of customers since then. They focus on fitness, allow easy communication, it helps you track your fitness and work towards it with a better setup. It easily gets connected to the Apple iPhone and has the same iOS processor.

It makes telecommunication really easy and interesting. There are various series and types of apple watches that are available for you to go and purchase. All these watches have evolved and developed with respect to their style, working, processor update, and more importantly with all developing series, it has become more efficient and easy to use for the customer.

To date, there has been a series of models that have been released. There are a total of seven series of designs and models released.

  • The first Apple watch which was launched was of the 1st generation. The first few launches were the apple watch, apple watch sports, apple watch Hermes, and apple watch edition. They had WiFi, Bluetooth, and storage of 8GB.
  • Series 1 of the variant has an “Apple S1P” CPU. With 8GB storage, RAM: 512 MB
  • Series 2 has an “Apple S2” CPU. With greater WiFi range.
  • Series 3 has an “Apple S3” CPU and has 8GB storage and 16GB cellular + GPS
  • Series 4 has an “Apple S4” CPU and Bluetooth-5.0, with other GPS and cellular modifications.
  • Series 5 has an “Apple S5” CPU with 32GB storage. It contains an Apple W3 wireless chip.
  • Apple watches SE also called the Apple series 6 with 32GB storage.
  • Series 7 with “Apple S7” CPU. Has 1GB RAM.

There can be times when you would probably have to reset your apple watch. This can be due to some internal problem or if you have forgotten your passcode for the watch.

  •  In the case where you want to reset your watch for cleaning purposes to just eliminate the extras, also if you want to upgrade your watch to a better series and do not want to lose the content it carries, you must make sure that you’ve backed up your storage. 
  • You can back up with MAC or iCloud. By doing so automatically a watch backup is created of your contents.

How to Factory Reset the Apple Watch?

The easiest way to factory reset your apple watch is by unpairing it with your Apple iPhone. By doing so, it will create a backup, and remove the activation lock and the connection of your phone. Also, it will erase the data and storage of your watch. 

  • Remove any transit card that you may have linked with your apple watch. Do it by going to the apple watch app on the iPhone, going to the wallet, and Apple pay, transit cards.
  • Keep the apple watch and your iPhone close to each other for the other functions.
  • Choose the option of ” my watch” which is present at the bottom. 
  • Tap “all watches” in the top left corner.
  • Tap the options present on the side, this will help unpairing the device.
  • Choose the option ” unpair apple watch” and then tap “unpair” again.
  • If you have any cellular plan, you can choose to remove all the cellular plans 
  • Enter your Apple id password if it is asked.
  • Once the unpairing is totally completed, you can then see the ” start pairing” message

If you don’t have your iPhone nearby and you want to factory reset your watch, you can do it with your watch itself without the iPhone. But by doing so it will not remove the activation lock. 

It will not be able to produce a fresh backup as it will not remove the activation lock. You can then go to your watch app on the iPhone and unpair it with the above-mentioned process and then finally remove the activation lock.

  • Go to the settings on your Apple watch.
  • Tap “General”
  • Now go down to the bottom of the settings and tap “Reset”
  • Tap on “Erase all content and settings”
  • Give the passcode whenever it is asked for.
  • Go down to the options and opt for ” Erase all” or ” Erase all and keep plan” in the case you have a cellular watch.

If you don’t remember your Apple watch passcode but have the paired iPhone:

In a case where you cannot remember your Apple watch passcode these are the steps that you can follow:

  • Your watch must be close to your iPhone and it should be paired. 
  • Open the Apple Watch app on the iPhone.
  • Swipe down the page and click on the “general”
  • Tap on the option “Reset”
  • Tap on ” Erase Apple watch content and settings”
  • Tap on ” Erase all content and settings”
  • Do this twice to confirm.
  • In case you have a cellular watch you have to decide whether to keep or erase all the plans.

In case you don’t have the paired iPhone and do not remember the passcode:

  • Put the apple watch on charging
  • Use the “power off” option.
  • This can be done by pressing the power button for a long time.
  • Press and hold on to the digital crown option
  • Press erase option once it is shown on the screen
  • Tap on “Erase all content and settings”
  • Tap on “Reset” twice to confirm.
