Factory Resetting your iPhone will erase all your photos, videos, passwords, memory, contacts, and all the apps and other things you might have downloaded, bought, and installed on your iPhone. You can also just reset your iPhone’s settings and not erase your data. You might want to do so if you have any performance-related issues such as glitches. Step 1: Open the Settings app and scroll down to General. 

Step 2: Tap on the General option and select the reset option. 

Step 3: Now to factory reset your phone, choose the Erase All Content and Settings option. 

Step 4: Now you’ll be asked to enter your password. Enter your password.

Step 5: Now you’ll be asked for a confirmation to factory reset your phone with your data. . Tap on the Erase option to confirm. 

Step 6: Factory resetting your iPhone might take some time, based on how much data you have stored. Once the data is deleted, your iPhone will start as new. 

Note: But before you factory reset your iPhone, you must backup all your data and sign out of your Apple ID. 

Backing up on iCloud

iCloud helps you backup your photos, videos, text messages, settings, app data, iMessage, Home Screen, etc. Apart from these it also backups your purchase history of music, TV shows, movies, apps, and books that you purchased from the App Store, iBook, or iTunes. Step 1: Make sure your device is connected to a WiFi network.

Step 2: Open Settings. Then click on your name. 

Step 3: Tap on iCloud. ( you might have to scroll down if you are using iPhone 7+ or models below that) 

Step 4: Open the iCloud backup option. ( if you are using iPhone 7+ or models below that tap on the backup option). 

Step 5: Make sure that your iCloud backup is turned on to continue. 

Step 6: Tap on the Back up now option. Make sure you are connected to a WiFi network all along the process. 

When your backup is finished. To see the details of the backup you can go to the Settings; click on your name; tap on iCloud; open the iCloud storage option; then tap on Manage storage. Now you can see all the details of your backup and its size. 

Sign out of your Apple ID 

It’s essential to log out of your Apple ID, especially if you’re selling your phone or giving it away. Let’s see how to do so step by step: 

Step 1: Open the settings and click your name and your Apple ID on top. 

Step 2: Scroll down the page and tap the sign-out option.

Step 3: Now you might be asked to enter your password. Enter your password and tap on the Turn off option.  

How to restore default settings without erasing the data?

How to reset iPhone without a password?

 iPhones are very difficult to break into. IOS has been programmed in such a way that it makes it impossible to break into any Apple device which is a great feature for the user but what if you forget your password? Then it becomes very tricky and difficult. The only way to unlock your phone then is to factory reset it. Let’s see how to do so step by step: 

Step 1: Switch off your iPhone. 

Step 2: Now that your iPhone is switched off plug it into your computer or laptop. Then put it into recovery mode. Let’s see how to do this 

  • if you have iPhone SE ( second generation) and above: press and release the Volume Up and then press and release the Volume Down, then press and release the lock button. 
  • If you have iPhone 7 or 7 Plus: Press and hold the lock and the Volume down button. 
  • If you have iPhone SE ( first generation) or 6S or earlier versions: Press and hold the lock and the home button. 

Step 3: Hold the button above until the pop-up of the recovery mode appears. An icon of a computer and a card will appear. 

Step 4: Now open Finder or iTunes and open the iPhone menu. 

  • if you are using Finder: Select the name of the iPhone in the left sidebar. 
  • If you are using iTunes: Click on the iPhone icon in the left upper corner. 

Step 5: Now a message will appear stating that your iPhone has a problem that needs to be restored or updated. Click on Restore. 

Step 6: Make sure to keep your iPhone connected to your computer while it fully resets and restores. It usually takes about 20 minutes to do so. 

After the process is finished, turn on your iPhone and set it up.
