For all those using iPhones, they must be familiar with Apple Pay. For those who don’t, Apple Pay is the digital payment technology developed by the Apple Company. With this mobile payment system, one can make online transactions very easily and securely through their iOs devices. This contactless payment technology is supported on multiple devices such as Mac, iPad, iPhone, and Apple Watch. Apple Pay is only accessible on all iOs devices and doesn’t support any Android systems or devices.

In today’s era of digitalization, Apple wants its consumers to make payments anywhere through their devices instead of carrying their debit or credit cards. How to pay using Apple Pay in stores and other places?

With the help of Apple Pay, you can make payments anywhere at any anytime. Some of the places where Apple Pay can be used are gas stations, stores, taxis, restaurants, and many other places. 

How to use Apple Pay on iPhone?

To use Apple Pay on iPhone, you need to follow the steps given below:

  1. To use your default card:
    • If your iPhone has a Face ID, double-click the side button. If it gets prompted, authenticate with Face ID or enter your passcode to open Apple Wallet.
    • If your iPhone has Touch ID, double-click the Home button.
  2. To use a different card, tap your default card to see your other cards. Tap a new card and authenticate.
  3. Hold the top of your iPhone near the contactless reader until Done and a checkmark appears on the display.

How to use Apple Pay on Apple Watch?

To use Apple Pay on Apple Watch, you need to follow the steps given below:

  1. Double-click the side button.
  2. Your default card opens automatically. Scroll down to choose another card.
  3. Hold the display of your Apple Watch near the contactless reader until you feel a gentle tap and hear a beep.

How to use Apple Pay on Safari?

To use Apple Pay on Apple Watch, you need to follow the steps given below:

  1. Tap the Apple Pay button or choose Apple Pay as your payment method.
  2. To pay with a different card, tap the Next button or the Expand Menu button next to your default card.
  3. If possible, enter your billing, shipping, and contact information. Apple Pay stores that information, so you won’t need to enter it again.
  4. Confirm the payment.
    • iPhone or iPad with Face ID: Double-click the side button, then use Face ID or your passcode.
    • iPhone or iPad without Face ID: Use Touch ID or your passcode. 
    • Apple Watch: Double-click the side button.
    • Mac with Touch ID: Follow the prompts on the Touch Bar and place your finger on Touch ID. If Touch ID is off, tap the Apple Pay icon on the Touch Bar and follow the prompts on the screen.
    • Mac without Touch ID: Confirm the payment on your Bluetooth-connected iPhone or Apple Watch. Make sure that you’re signed in with the same Apple ID on all devices.
  1. When your payment is successful, you’ll see Done and a checkmark on the screen.

How to use Apple Pay on iPad?

In order to use Apple Pay, it is important to have the Apple Wallet app. This wallet will store your debit cards and credit card details which will authenticate Apple Pay to process the payment for goods or other purchases. 

To use Apple Pay on Apple Watch, you need to follow the steps given below:

 On your iPad, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay. Tap Add Credit or Debit Card or the “+” in the top right corner and hit “Continue”. 

  • You can use your device’s camera to capture the information on your credit, debit, or store card. Then fill in any additional information needed.
  • Your bank will verify your information. You may need to provide additional verification which can mean you have to phone your bank, or you may receive a text message with a unique code that you’ll need to enter. 
  • The process changes depending on the bank. After your card is verified, tap Next, and then you can start using Apple Pay.

How to redeem rewards when you use Apple Pay?

At certain stores, you can receive or redeem rewards when you use Apple Pay.

  1. Add your rewards card to your Wallet.
  2. At the payment section in the store, present your rewards card by holding your iPhone near the contactless reader.
  3. Apple Pay then switches to your default payment card to pay for the purchase. In some stores, you can apply your rewards card and payment card in one step. In other stores, you need to wait until the terminal or cashier asks for payment.

To have your rewards card appear automatically when you’re in the store, tap on the card, then turn on Automatic Selection.

How to use Apple Pay within apps?

Not just the iOs devices, but, Apple Pay also works on certain Apple applications. In other words, while making a transaction on the Apple apps, you can easily make Apple Pay your payment option while checking out. Furthermore, you also still need to place your finger on Touch ID, or use Face ID, when paying.

These include the US, UK, Canada, Australia, the UAE, Russia, China, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong as well as numerous other countries. Talking about its usability, Apple Pay works with the following Apple devices. Some of them are Apple iPhone 6 or Apple iPhone 6 Plus and newer models, Apple iPad Pro, Apple iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3, or the newer models.

Lastly, it is also easily accessible on Apple Watch Series 1 and newer models. One more important fact about Apple Pay is that, unlike contactless card payments that limit you to a £100 spend, there is no limit for Apple Pay. Some of the apps supported by Apple Pay are Adidas, Bloom & Wild, Starbucks, Deliveroo, Apple Store, Topshop, Zara, ASOS, Uber, British Airways, Booking.com, Emirates, StubHub, DesignMyNight, and Made.com.
